Upon graduating with a BS in communications from Ohio University with an Audio Production major, I moved to Los Angeles in 1985. My first job was assistant engineer at Saban Productions. It all started with an anime show called “Macron 1”. From there I worked as an independent SFX editor on shows such as “The Pirates of Darkwater” and “Two Stupid Dogs” for Hanna Barbara. One of the bigger projects I worked on in my early days of my career was as a sound effect editor and recordist creating “The Premiere Edition” and “The Edge” SFX Libraries for The Hollywood Edge. This company was a sister company to Soundelux and I was able to work on several films for them as well. One of my bigger assignments was to go out and record stadium crowd sounds for the Oliver Stone film “The Doors”.

At this point I started working on after school movies and movies of the week for John Brasher & Associates. During this time, I learned much more about foley and getting very realistic sounds. This focus on live action was really interesting and rounded me out as an editor.

In 1994, I was hired by Warner Brothers to work on the lot doing both animation and live action. One of the first shows I worked on as a lead editor was “The Real Mighty Ducks”. It was a Disney animated show and while working on it, I won my first Emmy. Some of the other animated shows I worked on during this time period included a Winnie the Pooh TV special “Boo to You”, “Aladdin” and “101 Dalmatians”, both animated series and Season 3 & 4 of “Rocko’s Modern Life” and Kablam” for Nickelodeon. There were some notable direct to video films I worked on such as “Belle’s Magical World”, “The Lion King 2”, “Pocahontas 2” and “The Real Mighty Ducks: The Final Countdown”. Some of the live action shows I worked on for Warner Brothers included “Dawson’s Creek”, “Walker Texas Ranger” and “Prey”. I was asked by the feature department to cover FX & Foley for the first temp mix of “Truth or Consequences N.M.”. Kiefer Sutherland liked it so much he called me to the mix stage to meet him.

Soon after leaving Warner Brothers, Steve Hillenburg hired me to work on “SpongeBob SquarePants”. He placed me working with Hacienda Post. Some of the other projects and films I worked on during the next 6 years included (2) Nickelodeon Theme Park rides, a SpongeBob SquarePants video game “Battle for Bikini Bottom” and the “Bionical” direct to video movies. Some of the shows I worked on include a season of “Batman”, “Cat Scratch”, “Catdog”, “My Life as a Teenage Robot”, “Camp Lazlo”, “Megas XLR”.

After leaving Hacienda, both Cartoon Network hired me directly and I continued on with SpongeBob, eventually settling in with Sound Rebels. Cartoon Network asked me to cover all the foley for the shows I worked on so I built a foley stage in my house to handle those needs. This has continued to this day. I have also done several live action documentary films for Humanist Films.
